Christ Episcopal Church's Pastoral Care Ministries

Lay Eucharistic Visitors:
Committed, devoted, and specially trained and gifted lay members of Christ Church are ready and willing to come to your residence be it your apartment, house, retirement village, assisted living quarters, nursing home, or hospital room. This particular ministry brings the Eucharist that has been consecrated at our church, directly to you, along with a brief service and visit from one of our lay ministers. Should you so desire to partake of this pastoral ministry, or feel so called to learn more about becoming active in this ministry, please contact the church office and ask for Deacon Nancy.

Prayer and Healing Team:
A special group of lay ministers with the gift of prayer, healing and laying on of hands, offers their ministry at several different times at church. One such time is at the 10:30am Sunday Service. Immediately after receiving the Eucharist, members of the team are stationed at our smaller alter, St. Mary's Chapel, off to the right of the main, high altar area. Here, they will pray over you, with laying on of hands and anoint you with oil of healing. You may choose to speak of your particular prayer need, or simply kneel or stand before them in silence. We also have set aside another time that follows our Sunday bible study at about 9:45am in the Rose Room. And, Wednesday at noon, we also have a healing Eucharist with laying on of hands that takes place in our choir room. Our prayer and healing team are also available to come to your place of residence if you are unable to come to us. Please call the church office if you are interested in or in need of this ministry. We are always open to new members who feel so called to this supportive ministry. If interested in either personal, one-on-one healing, or in joining this ministry, please call the church and ask for Deacon Nancy.

Congregational Care Team:
Christ Church is blessed to have several members with gifts for nursing, medicine, and social work in our midst. If you or a family member are facing a new or difficult diagnosis, upcoming procedure, pregnancy, surgery, or have unanswered questions, fears, confusion and need help understanding health issues, please let us know and a nurse or social worker will contact you. Our Deacon's ministry is hospice, or end of life care, and she will gladly offer assistance in either learning about hospice services for you, a friend or a loved one. Please call the church office and ask for Deacon Nancy.

Telephone Tree Ministry:
Several members of our church have availed themselves to a ministry of the gift of time, talk and listening to all congregants, particularly at selected times throughout the church year. Updates on parish events, special services, Christian education seminars, special outreach projects etc., are disseminated through phone calls to keep parishioners informed. In addition to these scheduled calls, our telephone tree members will gladly give a call to check in with you after an illness, hospital or rehab stay, or for any other reason, should you so desire. Our telephone ministers also pass along needs for prayer and other assistance for church members facing illness or other life crisis. If you, or someone you know, would like to be on a special call list, or you feel so called to this ministry of caring, please call the church office and ask for Deacon Nancy.
